Mary Mettz married Sanders Patterson on 10 December 1815. He was the son of John Patterson, Sr. Mary was the daughter of Elias and Mary Shelly Mettz, and was born in Illinois. Mary’s brother, Elias Mettz, married Sanders’ sister, Lydia Patterson.
