Obituary:
March 12, 1929 – December 6, 2014
Marion Gilbert Hume (Gib), of Wake Forest, was peacefully ushered into the presence of His Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Saturday, December 6, 2014, at home.
Gib was born March 12, 1929, in Florissant, Missouri. He served in the Air Force in the early 1950s. Gib retired from Boeing Aircraft in 1996, where he served as an electrician. Gib was an accomplished carpenter and loved doing projects for his friends and family. He touched many lives with his humor, service, and ready smile. To know Gib was to love him!
Funeral services will be held at 11 o’clock on Thursday morning, December 11, 2014, at Salem Baptist Church with the Rev. George Tripp and Rev. Curtis Dupree officiating. Burial will be held in Cold Water cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, December 10, 2014, from 6 -8 pm at Hutchens Mortuary and Cremation Center, 675 Graham Rd., Florissant, MO.
Gib is survived by his wife of 18 years, Judith Roberts Hume; daughter, Tracy Hume Graham of St. Peters, Missouri (Jeffrey Graham, deceased); his son Christopher A. Hume of Gainesville, Virginia (Yulia Hume-Tverdova); step-son, Curtis J. Dupree of Wake Forest, North Carolina (Emily Dupree); sister, MaryLou Boone of Branson, Missouri, four grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his former wife, Billie R. Hume.
Gib was a member of Salem Baptist Church in Florissant, Missouri for many years. Upon moving to Wake Forest, North Carolina, he became a watch care member of Stony Hill Baptist Church, where he served faithfully. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Stony Hill Baptist Church Compassion Fund 7521 Stony Hill Road, Wake Forest, NC 27587 or Hospice of Wake County 250 Hospice Circle Raleigh, NC 27607.
