Notes:
• James M. Thompson married Margaret Ellen Carrico on 19 August 1868. She was the daughter of Walter Carrico and Louise Downs Carrico, SLGS Marriage Records, Vol. 2 13-426.
• James M. Thompson was the son of Robert Thompson and Maggie McLear, both of Scotland. He fought as a confederate for the South during the Civil War and was a farmer by profession.
• James M. Thompson also served as President of the School Board of the Brown school for 40 years.

Sources:
• Copy of article on Brown School, Black Jack, Missouri refers to a Threshing machine operator named James Thompson. He was born in Glasgow in 1843 and married a daughter of Walter Carrico, who inherited a sizeable acreage in 1877. Thompson died in 1916.
• Marriage: “Index of St. Louis Marriages 1804-1876 Vol II” from the St. Louis Genealogy Society Copy gives name and date.
